Accracy of incremental DIC used in large deformation is affected by cumulative errors from each loading stage.
A single-step scanner-based DIC method where only initial and final images are used in strain computation is proposed.
Reference subsets are deformed using deformation factors determined from stress-strain curve and the Poisson function.
The deformed reference subsets are used in the tracking to determine the displacement vectors and strain maps.
This method is demonstrated in mapping large strains in dumbbell rubber specimens and larger specimens containing holes.
