Rotenone inhibited the firing of NAergic LC neurons by activating KATP channels.

The toxin also increased intracellular Ca2 + by activating TRPM2 channels.

Rotenone depolarised mitochondria and released H2O2 from these neurons.

Responses of LC neurons were compared to nigral DAergic and non-DAergic neurons.

LC neurons were less sensitive than nigral DAergic neurons to effects of rotenone.
