Higher light levels reduced HWA density on potted hemlock seedlings. Higher light levels were not correlated with increased assimilation or leaf sugar content. Leaf and root starch content and seedling growth increased with higher light treatment. Management actions increasing light on infested hemlocks may reduce the effects of HWA infestation on hemlock C balance.
