Cellulose fibers functionalized by metal nanoparticles stabilized in dendrimer for formaldehyde decomposition and antimicrobial activity

Dendrimer with metal nanoparticles (5 nm) were chemically bound on cellulose fiber. Formaldehyde gas adsorption was 84 times higher on dendrimer site than fiber site. Catalytic efficiency of Pt for decomposition of formaldehyde on dendrimer was 65%. Silver-loaded fiber revealed excellent biocidal activity against E. coli. Device is effective for degradation of causative agents of sick building syndromes.
