Vaterite was first time crystalized in alkaline silica gel. Calcite and vaterite crystalized concomitantly and exhibited different morphologies within a small area. Mechanism of glycine on the nucleation of vaterite was proposed. Mechanism of glycine on the growth of calcite was proposed.
