In type 2 diabetes, depressed mood assessed by WHO-5 questionnaire is not uncommon. In routine care, a clinically recognized diagnosis of depression might be missed. Besides known demographics, northern German residence is related to depressed mood. Further related factors: disabling macro-/microvascular endpoints, hypoglycemia.
