A new ferrocenyl P,O ligand has been synthesized and successfully used in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction of phenylboronic acid with bromobenzene. Some analogues carrying charged (imidazolium) or neutral (monomethylether PEG 750, tetraethylbisphosphonate) polar substituents have been prepared by functionalization of a common synthetic intermediate easily obtained using bromoalcohol p-HOCH₂(C₆H₄)CH₂Br as bifunctional linker.
