UA PI is higher in female fetuses compared to males at 22–24 gestational weeks. Sex differences in UA PI should be taken into account while evaluating feto-placental circulation to assess fetal wellbeing. No sexual dimorphism exists in utero-placental and feto-placental volume blood flow at this gestation. Sex-specific reference ranges should be established for placental circulation.
