First deep mineralogical and hydrochemical studies in bedrock fractures close to and underneath a continental ice sheet. A study on the Quaternary redox history in the deep bedrock fracture system at the margin of the western Greenland ice sheet. Timing constraints from U-series isotopes of fracture coatings from 0 to 650 m depth close to and underneath the ice sheet. Complex redox history that is not in general accordance with the present conditions. The results are relevant in safety assessments for deep nuclear waste repositories.
