Study design allows disentangling respiratory effects on a single pollutant level. PA acutely increases lung function even in highly polluted environments. PA and TRAP pre-exposure modify lung function measurements. PA modifies the acute respiratory effects of air pollution. PA has the potential to alleviate acute negative effects of PM upon respiratory airways.
