Nanoparticles (NP) with dominated {101} facets are patched on nanorods (NR) with {100} exposed plane.

Surface heterojunction of {101}–{100} is formed in the hybrid NP/NR.

The charge transfer is enhanced in the NP/NR heterostructure.

NP/NR demonstrates good capabilities to degrade multiple organics and split water to H2.
