Neuroticism (N) predicted non-specific psychological distress (NPD) over other traits. The influence of mindfulness on N-NPD was investigated. Mindfulness moderated the N-NPD relationship with a large effect size. Increased mindfulness resulted in lower NPD irrespective of higher neuroticism. Mindfulness interventions are advantageous in treatment of NPD.
