hcp-Ir–Os alloys were prepared form single source precursors (NH4)2[IrxOs1−xCl6]. A crystalline intermediate has been detected in thermal decomposition of (NH4)2[IrxOs1−xCl6]. Stability of hcp-Ir–Os alloys has been tested under high-pressure high-temperature. Miscibility gap shifts towards iridium with compression.
