Lithium borate glasses doped with Dy3+ were prepared by melt quench technique. Structural, thermal and optical properties of LBD glasses were studied. Intense emission peaks at 483, 574 nm and one feeble band is observed at 663 nm. Direct and indirect energy band gaps were determined by means of Tauc's plot. CIE chromaticity diagram shows emission in white region.
