Dynamic mechanical response and deformation mechanism of AZ31B Mg were studied. Mechanical responses exhibit sigmoidal hardening and power-law hardening behaviors. The prismatic type textures of AZ31B Mg plate determine its mechanical behaviors. The sensitivity of flow stress to strain rate depends on deformation mechanisms. Dynamic recrystallization occurred if AZ31B Mg was compressed at high strain rate.
