The template-directed lactose microparticles have a flower-like shape. Nitrogen sorption analysis shows a micro-meso-macroporous structure. Interior structures are studied using confocal Raman microscopy and focused ion beam techniques. Formation mechanism of the porous flower-like material is studied.
