The hulls of rice (Oryza sativa L.) are isolated compound momilactone A. In FT-IR, UV–vis, 1H NMR are used to identify the compound in these spectrums. Momilactone A is used to inhibit the mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl. In SEM and EDX reveals the formation of protective layer for mild steel. The momilactone A are used as a good corrosion protection in mild steel specimens.
