A significant contribution from thoron exposure to the inhalation dose was found. Thoron decay product measurements are necessary for reliable dose assessments. The unattached thoron decay products are relatively unimportant. Active/time-resolved or passive/integrating methods are precise and efficient. Advice on the proper measurement method in similar exposure situations is given.
