Sustain provides longitudinal data about HPN CLABSI in the United States. Of the 1,046 HPN patients followed in the registry, 10.7% reported one or more CLABSI during 223,493 days of PN exposure. The overall CLABSI rate for Sustain was 0.87/1,000 PN days. Patients who were male, pediatric age, black, or had Medicaid insurance had higher infection rates. CLABSI were more often associated with double lumen, or implanted ports.
