QTL mapping for agronomic traits using multi-parent advanced generation inter-cross (MAGIC) populations derived from diverse elite indica rice lines

A total of 26 QTL on all chromosomes except 7, 9 and 11 were identified for 10 traits in the DS or WS using three MAGIC populations. Nine QTL corresponded to known QTL/genes.

More QTL were detected using the 8-way population than the four-way populations. However, there are QTL that were not detected using the 8-way population were detected the four-way population.

More QTL were detected by the combined analysis of multiple populations.

QTL-by-season interaction was important for all QTL. Only nine of the 26 QTL were commonly identified across the two seasons.

Four clustered QTL regions were detected. All these regions harbor well characterized genes/QTL.
