The first comprehensive source apportionment of PAHs in Brisbane River sediments. Diagnostic ratios and receptor models were employed for source identification. Dominant vehicular emission and moderate biomass contribution of PAHs identified. Toxic non-cancer and cancer risks to humans, especially to children were evaluated. Mean effects range median quotients indicated low ecological risks to the river.
