Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a tool that can be implemented successfully in primary care for low-income women. MI is an effective communication tool for both patients and providers who wish to move together toward successful chronic disease management. Of the women in this project who were engaged in all 3 MI sessions offered, 43% were successful in engaging in physical activity on a weekly basis. Women engaged in all 3 MI sessions offered, exhibited increases in self-confidence related to their ability to engage in physical activity.
