Solution and solid state stress studies conducted on abacavir sulfate. A total of eleven degradation products detected by HPLC and characterized by mass tools. Seven degradation products isolated and structures confirmed by NMR studies. Fragmentation pattern of all degradation products along with the drug established. Pathway of formation of all degradation products outlined.
