Plastic in patient study: Prospective audit of adherence to peripheral intravenous cannula monitoring and documentation guidelines, with the aim of reducing future rates of intravenous cannula-related complications
详细信息    查看全文
文摘
Peripheral intravenous cannula use is universal among inpatients and is associated with multiple complications. Simple interventions are effective in improving adherence to practice guidelines. Improved adherence to guidelines results in earlier removal of idle peripheral intravenous cannulas and a trend toward reducing early phlebitis. Higher uptake of more peripherally inserted central catheters is observed postintervention.
