New hybrid montmorillonite/Tween20 organoclays (OC) have been prepared and characterized. The OC have been employed for the adsorption and in vitro release of the cinnamic acid. The hybrid complexes proved effective in the adsorption of the drug. The encapsulation of the drug onto organoclays allows for a prolonged release. The prepared OC are promising materials for the design of drug delivery systems.
