How do Italian gay fathers experience their transnational surrogacy arrangement? The fathers perceived the loss of control over the pregnancy due to the geographical distance from the surrogate. The surrogate facilitated the emotional connection between the fathers and their developing child. The surrogate was called ‘aunty’ to include her family in the relationship with the fathers. The fathers did not mention the egg donor in their narratives.
