Burn and excisional wounds were grafted and the effect on skin quality compared. Antecedent burn increased skin graft contraction and decreased skin quality. Antecedent burn increased inflammation, neovascularization, and scarring. The model can serve to evaluate future skin replacement or modulation strategies.
