Exposure to iodine in excess at the doses used showed biphasic action on ovary. 100 EI found tolerable to thyroid but had a hypoestrogenic effect. Conversely, 500 EI developed hyperthyroidism that showed hyperestrogenic effect. Both the hypo- and hyperestrogenic conditions affect fertility index equally.
