A series of cocrystals were formed by diiodotetrafluorobenzene and phenanthrolines. Cocrystals phosphoresce with modulated colors from yellow, orange, pink to red. The C—I ⋯ N halogen bond is a main driving force in cocrystals. Good appearance-quality of binary cocrystals is relative to small torsion angles. Phosphorescence is influenced by C—I ⋯ N halogen bond and other interactions.
