Experiential avoidance (EA) in depression was studied using a high-risk design. EA was identified as a vulnerability factor for adolescent major depression. Adolescent EA mediated the relation between maternal EA and adolescent depression. Findings emphasize intergenerational EA in the maternal transmission of depression.
