The present study aimed at analyzing the relationship between anthropometric parameters, fat distribution and cardiovascular risk factors in men and women with NIDDM. We studied 120 subjects: 64 men and 56 women. Was evaluated the body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio (W/H) and corporal composition by measurement skin-folds thickness (Lipometer Holtain). The corporal density and fat free mass (FFM) were calculated by Durnin formula, fat % (FM) by Siri formula, total body water % (TBW) by Hume and Weyers method. Total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), lipoprotein and apoprotein levels were determined. C-peptide (Cp) was measured basal and each 30 min after a meal (500 Kcal).
