A novel method for orienting and positioning the small-defect in pipes based on Lyapunov dimension with ultrasonic guided wave is proposed.
The proposed approach effectively improve the sensitivity of small defect detection.
The weak damage echo signal immerged in the noise is detected.
The proposed method could effectively identify small defect echoes with 4% lost of sectional area in pipes.
The relative error for defect location was determined to be less than 5%.
