Clinical xenotransplantation of pig islet cells into 8 diabetic patients in Argentina. Screening for transmission of porcine endogenous retrovirus (PERV). Western blot analysis using highly purified PERV and control sera and PCR. No transmission of PERV at different time points when tested up to 113 weeks.
