Nickel concentrations in olivine are the most reliable "pyroxenite components" tracer in arc and OIB settings. Calcium concentrations in olivine are likely controlled by water contents in primary arc magmas. Fe/Mn can be affected by the oxidation state of the mantle wedge. Our data suggest a dominant hydrous peridotite source beneath the Aeolian Islands. Alicudi data are the exceptions as they infer the presence of a pyroxenite component.
