Despite a rigorous isolation procedure, the sulfidogenic colony still consisted of a consortium of Clostridium sp. and D. meridiei. Combination of different bacteria is of great importance for the corrosiveness of metals. Clostridium sp. might inhibit corrosion stimulated by SRB.
