Melting and solidification processes of a PCM are experimentally studied in a shell and tube heat exchanger. The system performance is studied when the system inclination angle varies for different Stefan numbers. The rate of heat transfer during melting is the most when the heat exchanger is positioned horizontally. The vertical heat exchanger can absorb the thermal energy during solidification better than other inclinations. The temperature different between the sections are much less when the heat exchanger is positioned horizontally.
