A critical size of Ca-HA complexes at 400–500xA0;nm is reported for the initial flux decline to rebound. Transition from cake formation to intermediate blocking in nanofilter fouling was observed. The influence of charge in Ca-HA complexes and membrane surfaces is investigated. The Hermia model is proven valid for the fouling behaviors caused by non-rigid colloids.
