RT-LAMP detected RSV directly in nasophayngeal swabs without RNA extraction. Sensitivity and specificity was 70–80% and >95%, respectively. Test results were obtained within 30 min. Estimated cost per reaction is 2 USD. RT-LAMP was shown to have strong potential for use at point-of-care testing.
