An enhanced Johnson-Cook strength model for splitting strain rate and temperature effects on lower yield stress and plastic flow

A new “strength model”, named Split Johnson–Cook (SJC), is proposed and discussed.

Strain rate and temperature effects on lower yield stress and plastic flow are split.

Three calibration procedures of the SJC model are developed and discussed.

Calibrations are applied to three materials and results are compared to those from plain JC.

Results prove the much improved capability of SJC to capture real material behavior.
