Pharyngeal pumping in nematodes generates an electropharyngeogram (EPG). The EPG provides a readout of the electrical activity of neurons and muscles. A microfluidic platform for recording EPGs was validated in parasitic nematodes. EPG activity and drug responses were characterized in host-stage larvae. Microfluidic EPG recordings provide a powerful new tool for anthelmintic research.
