The organic matter-rich Lucaogou formation has fair to good hydrocarbon-generative potential. Hydrocarbon expulsion began at 0.73% Ro and the peak expulsion occurred at 0.9% Ro. The total expelled hydrocarbon quantities are 18.7×108 t. The hydrocarbon expulsion intensity controls the distribution of tight oil.
