The body mass index (BMI), serum leptin and resistin levels were higher in preeclampsia group than in control group.
Serum leptin levels were positively correlated with BMI and negatively correlated with newborn birth weight.
Serum resistin levels were negatively correlated with birth weight but were unrelated to BMI.
BMI ≥ 28 and serum leptin levels were independent factors of preeclampsia.
