Polyamidoamine-facilitated poly(ethylene glycol)/ionic liquid based pressure swing membrane absorption process for CO2 removal from shifted syngas

Pressure swing membrane absorption (PSMAB) separates CO2–He (H2 surrogate) mixture.

Separation of 40% CO2 in He (shifted syngas) was studied at 50–100 °C, 689–1724 kPag.

Two absorbents, PEG 400 and ionic liquid (IL), were used with/without a dendrimer amine.

Despite higher CO2/He selectivity, PEG 400 performs poorly due to higher viscosity.

PSMAB with IL and dendrimer amine yields 95.5% CO2 from a 100 °C–1724 kPag feed gas.
