The synthesis, characterization and ZnS surface passivation of polycrystalline ZnO films obtained by the spin-coating method

The ZnO/ZnS nanofilms were obtained by spin-coating, calcination and sulfidation process. Facile one-step ZnO passivation process was carried out at room temperature in H2S in the gas phase. The nanofilms revealed wurtzite and sphalerite structure for ZnO and ZnS part, respectively. ZnO and ZnO/ZnS nanofilms were studied by TEM, EFTEM, SEM, EDX, UV/Vis and CL. The CL intensity of gap-band emission increased by one order of magnitude after passivation process.
