Geochemical process and toxicity of arsenic in natural environment are described. Influence of hydrogeochemical and physicochemical characteristics of sediment on arsenic absorption is discussed. Isothermal adsorption models for arsenic adsorption by sediment are presented. Arsenic pollution situation in a karst area of Southwest China is reviewed. Karst hydrogeological background and its impact on arsenic geochemical behavior are identified.
