Nanoporous silica aerogel nanoparticles were synthesized.

Mesoporous behavior and displaying IV isotherm with high surface area and pore diameter around 3 nm are some interesting characteristics of this aerogel.

Silica aerogel nanoparticles surface was modified with HMDS and used in SR&NI ATRP.

Tailor-made PS chains were synthesized by SR&NI ATRP.

Influences of adding silica aerogel nanoparticles on the kinetics parameters are discussed.
