Maternal separation (MS) influence the responses of adolescence female rats to rewarding effects of nicotine in conditioned place preference (CPP) paradigm. Maternal separation led to an impairment in spatial learning ability in Morris water maze tested during adolescence. Nicotine attenuated the MS-induced spatial learning defects in the maternally separated rats.
