Sensitivity and specificity of KAtex® kit in the diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis were 51.4% and 98.3% respectively. Sensitivity and specificity of KAtex® kit using oral-fluid were 80% and 88.3% respectively. Lack of specificity in oral fluid is probably due to cross-reaction with soluble bacteria related-antigen.
