A lanosterol synthase gene (ls) was cloned and overexpressed in Ganoderma lingzhi. Effects of ls overexpression on ganoderic acid (GA) biosynthesis were investigated. Transgenic strains can efficiently increase productions of total and individual GAs. Over-expression led to increased transcription levels of ls and in lanosterol content.
