Enhancement on the tribological performance of diamond films by utilizing graphene coating as a solid lubricant

A continuous layer of graphene coating is obtained on MCD surface by EPD method. The applied voltage affects the microstructure of as-deposited graphene coating. The friction of MCD film is reduced by 40% with the top-layered graphene coating. The realization of three-body abrasion accounts for the friction reducing effect. No structural degradation occurs for graphene sheets during the sliding tests.
